Role – Engineering Manager (Business Layer)

Purpose of Role
- The candidate will be responsible for being the key conduit between delivery, developer, QA and release management team. They will be tasked at proposing budgets for projects and overseeing all the activities related to delivery each project under their fold.
- The candidate is expected to work along with different stakeholders across the organization to deliver quality products on time.
- The candidate in various occasions will also have to talk directly to vendors to get engineering aspects vetted to ensure timely and accurate deliveries
- Engineering manager is expected to create detailed solutions for any requirement and gets the same vetted across leadership
Key Accountabilities
Responsibilities will include but will not be restricted to:
- Proposing and managing budgets for projects.
- Supervising the work of multiple teams.
- Planning and executing strategies for completing projects on time.
- Developing designs and products.
- Determining the need for training and talent development.
- Determining processes for cost reduction and management
- Hiring contractors and building teams.
- Ensuring products have the support of upper management.
- Providing clear and concise instructions to engineering teams.
- Ensuring high quality, defect-free, scalable, and timely developments by his team using best coding practices.
Technical Requirements
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, management, or any other equivalent field.
- Has 15+ years of experience in the field of engineering.
- Candidates having Insurance Industry experience is preferred on topics such as issuance, underwriting claims management in technology perspective.
- Has experience in managing large scale data migrations from legacy systems to cloud or external.
- Strong software development skills including proficiency in a modern platforms such as Appian with good understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum and Kanban.
- Experience in database design and management is important, including relational databases like My SQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
- Experience with cloud computing technologies such as AWS with the ability to manage cloud-based systems.
- Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize projects and allocate resources appropriately.
- Up to date knowledge of latest industry trends in tech and processes.
