Oversee Blasting & Painting Operations:
- Manage the blasting and painting activities across hull fabrication stages, ensuring alignment with project schedules and quality requirements.
- Develop and implement work schedules for blasting and painting, coordinating resources to complete surface treatment within project timelines.
- Monitor daily production activities, troubleshooting issues as they arise to prevent delays and ensure smooth workflow.
Coordinate with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret specifications for surface treatment, ensuring blasting and painting meet design and quality standards.
- Work closely with project management to align blasting and painting schedules with overall project timelines, adjusting as needed to meet deadlines.
- Coordinate with other production departments within BCS, facilitating seamless transitions from blasting and painting to outfitting and further assembly stages.
Ensure Quality Control & Compliance:
- Implement rigorous quality control standards throughout the blasting and painting process, conducting inspections to verify compliance with specifications.
- Work with the quality control team to identify and address any defects or inconsistencies, implementing corrective actions to maintain high standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of quality checks and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
Optimize Resource Utilization & Cost Efficiency:
- Manage resource allocation for blasting and painting, optimizing labor, materials, and equipment to meet production targets within budget constraints.
- Track material usage, including paint and blasting media, coordinating with procurement and stores to ensure timely availability.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures within the blasting and painting process, balancing quality with cost efficiency.
Promote Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations across all blasting and painting activities, ensuring safe working conditions for team members.
- Conduct regular safety assessments, implementing protocols to mitigate risks associated with surface treatment, hazardous materials, and equipment usage.
- Foster a safety-conscious culture within the team, conducting regular training on safe practices, PPE usage, and emergency procedures.
Drive Process Improvement & Innovation:
- Identify areas for process improvements within blasting and painting operations, implementing best practices to enhance productivity and quality.
- Leverage digital tools and production management software to improve tracking, record-keeping, and operational efficiency in surface treatment tasks.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, engaging team members in identifying innovations that streamline processes and reduce material wastage.
Prepare Reports & Maintain Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of all blasting and painting activities, including production metrics, quality inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on production progress, resource utilization, and quality metrics for review by the Head of Hull/Steel Fabrication.
- Ensure timely submission of management reports, adhering to internal standards and supporting transparency in surface treatment operations.
