The Production Analyst is responsible for analyzing production levels, assessing process efficiency, and identifying optimization opportunities within the shipyard. Reporting directly to the Head of Yard/Technical Services, this role provides an outside-in perspective on ongoing operations, conducting risk assessments, and presenting key areas of focus to senior management. The Production Analyst works closely with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement, enhance operational efficiency, and mitigate risks.
This role is crucial for providing senior management with insights into production performance, identifying critical areas of risk, and recommending strategies to optimize processes and reduce inefficiencies. The Production Analyst contributes to the shipyard’s operational excellence by delivering data-driven analyses that support strategic decision-making and risk management.Conduct Production Analysis & Process Evaluation:
- Analyze current production levels and processes across shipyard operations, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for optimization.
- Evaluate key production metrics, comparing them with industry benchmarks to assess operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Drive adoption of lean manufacturing principles for optimum utilization of resources and reduction of wastages
- Conduct time and motion study to recommend optimum production workflows, improve throughput, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance productivity.
Perform Optimization Feasibility Studies:
- Assess the feasibility of potential optimization initiatives, conducting cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to evaluate the technical and operational impact of proposed changes.
- Develop models and simulations to estimate the benefits and potential outcomes of recommended process improvements.
Conduct Risk Assessments & Identify Key Focus Areas:
- Conduct thorough risk assessments across production processes, identifying areas that pose potential risks to efficiency, safety, and project timelines.
- Evaluate operational data to detect patterns that indicate emerging risks or areas of concern.
- Provide senior management with actionable insights into high-risk areas and recommend mitigation strategies to minimize operational disruptions.
Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
- Work closely with the Head of Yard/Technical Services to identify and implement continuous improvement projects that drive operational excellence.
- Monitor the progress and effectiveness of implemented changes, tracking improvements in productivity, cost-efficiency, and risk reduction.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the production teams, sharing insights and best practices to promote proactive problem-solving.
Develop & Present Reports to Senior Management:
- Prepare detailed production analysis reports, summarizing key findings, areas of focus, and recommendations for process optimization.
- Present data-driven insights to senior management, highlighting significant trends, risks, and opportunities for operational enhancement.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of reports, aligning with the COO’s and senior management’s strategic goals for the shipyard.
Coordinate with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and project management teams to gather relevant data and insights on production activities.
- Serve as a liaison between technical services and production departments, facilitating data sharing and supporting aligned decision-making.
- Communicate regularly with other departments to understand challenges, gather feedback, and ensure alignment in process improvement initiatives.
Maintain & Enhance Data Systems for Production Monitoring:
- Oversee the accuracy and reliability of data related to production metrics, maintaining comprehensive records to support analysis.
- Utilize production management software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools to extract, analyze, and interpret production data.
- 7+ years of experience in production analysis, process improvement, or operations management, preferably within shipbuilding, heavy engineering, or a similar industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
