Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced National Credit Manager to lead the credit function for Loan Against Property (LAP) in the affordable housing segment across multiple branches. The role entails heading the entire credit department, including Regional Sales Managers (RCMs), Area Credit Managers (ACMs), and Branch Credit Managers (BCMs), developing and implementing comprehensive credit policies, and ensuring alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, strategic decision-making abilities, and a deep understanding of the NBFC or HFC sector.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
Lead the credit department, including RCMs, ACMs, and BCMs, fostering collaboration and adherence to high-quality credit standards.
Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and training to credit teams to enhance their technical skills and operational efficiency.
Establish and monitor performance metrics to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Credit Policy and Strategy Development
Design and implement comprehensive credit policies and frameworks tailored to the affordable housing segment.
Approve high-value and complex credit proposals, ensuring sound underwriting practices.
Align credit strategies with business objectives to drive sustainable growth.
Field Activities and Market Insight
Conduct field visits to meet customers for deeper insights into customer profiles and repayment capacity.
Perform random surprise checks and verifications to ensure adherence to credit policies and identify potential risks.
Leverage market intelligence to refine credit strategies and enhance decision-making.
Portfolio Management
Monitor and manage the health of the loan portfolio across regions, ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as portfolio quality, delinquency rates, and Turnaround Time (TAT) are achieved.
Analyze market trends and portfolio performance to provide actionable recommendations for risk mitigation and portfolio enhancement.
Drive initiatives to improve underwriting processes and portfolio quality.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
Work closely with sales, operations, and risk teams to ensure credit policies are seamlessly integrated with business objectives.
Collaborate with branch and regional teams to address credit-related challenges and optimize opportunities.
Partner with legal, compliance, and risk teams to refine credit policies and ensure regulatory adherence.
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience: Minimum 15 years in credit assessment, underwriting, and portfolio management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing RCMs, ACMs, and BCMs.
Expertise:
Profound knowledge of Loan Against Property (LAP) and the affordable housing segment.
Strong experience in assessed income evaluations, informal segment underwriting, and property assessments.
Comprehensive understanding of credit policy frameworks and regulatory compliance.
Market Knowledge: Extensive familiarity with the Delhi NCR market.
Education: Postgraduate in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
