Key Responsibilities of Tool Room Manager
- Oversee Tool Room Operations: Manage the daily operations of the tool room, ensuring all activities, including machining, tool assembly, and maintenance, are performed to high standards.
- Technical Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Good knowledge in trouble shooting and resolving technical issues to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency.
- Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed schedules and production plans, ensuring tools are delivered as per committed timelines and project requirements.
- Machining Expertise: Supervise and optimize the operation of advanced machinery (WEDM, SEDM, CNC milling, surface grinding, optical profile grinding) to produce high-quality dies and molds.
- Tool Assembly: Oversee and support tool assembly processes for both stamping and molding, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Trial, Debugging, and Qualification: Lead trial, debugging, and qualification processes for all tools to ensure they meet functional and performance standards.
- Procurement and Inventory: Coordinate procurement of outsourced materials and components, maintaining adequate inventory for continuous production flow.
- Team Development and People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a skilled team of toolmakers, machinists, and technical staff. Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Quality Control and Standards Compliance: Implement and uphold stringent quality control measures, complying with industry standards and company requirements.
Technical Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Diploma in Tool & Die Making.
- Experience: 20+ years of solid experience in high precision tooling domain. Out this 20+ years’ experience of tooling, a minimum of 5+ years must be in a senior management role within a well-established tool room, with a strong track record in tool manufacturing and team management.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep technical knowledge in tool room machining, troubleshooting, problem-solving, tool assembly, and qualification processes.
- Planning and Organizational Skills: Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and schedule activities, ensuring high-quality delivery within timelines.
- Communication and Leadership: Excellent people management, communication, and leadership skills to guide the team effectively.
- Vendor and Procurement Management: Experience in coordinating with vendors and managing the procurement of outsourced items.
