Job Title: Lab Manager – Food Testing Quality

Reports To: Head of Quality / GM
Job Summary:
Lead our food testing laboratory, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate should be proficient in microbiological and physico-chemical testing, well-versed in analytical instruments, and experienced in regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Operations & Testing
- Oversee microbiological and physico-chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished food products.
- Ensure the accurate use of ELISA kits, water test kits, ATP test kits, and antibiotic residue test kits.
- Develop and validate testing protocols as per regulatory and industry standards.
- Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to FSSAI, ISO 17025, HACCP, and other food safety standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and maintain GLP (Good Laboratory Practices).
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conforming results.
- Equipment & Instrumentation
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Train and supervise staff on the proper handling of laboratory instruments.
- Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain laboratory records, ensuring traceability and accuracy of test results.
- Prepare reports on test findings and communicate effectively with internal teams.
- Team Leadership & Training
- Supervise and mentor laboratory staff, ensuring a high level of technical competency.
- Conduct training sessions on new testing methods and laboratory best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a food testing lab, with managerial or supervisory experience.
- Strong expertise in microbiological and physico-chemical analysis.
- Proficiency in using ELISA, ATP test kits, water test kits, antibiotic residue detection kits, and other lab instruments.
- Familiarity with ISO 17025, HACCP, FSSAI, and other food safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Hands-on experience with rapid testing methods and automation.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and data interpretation.
- Strong documentation and report-writing abilities.
