Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Engineers with a Masters degree are preferred.
Role Clarity
Domain Expertise and Guidance: Provide expert insights and guidance on logistics processes, specifically in areas such as customs clearance, freight forwarding, container depot management, and port/terminal management.
Process Mapping and Analysis: Analyze and map out end-to-end logistics processes, identifying key touchpoints for software integration. Collaborate with business analysts and product managers to translate domain knowledge into functional requirements and software specifications.
Software Development Collaboration: Work closely with the development team to ensure that the software solutions align with industry standards and address the practical challenges faced by logistics professionals. Participate in design reviews, providing feedback on software features and functionality to ensure they meet the needs of the target users.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all software solutions comply with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, such as customs regulations, tax regimes, and international trade laws. Identify potential risks and advise on mitigation strategies to ensure seamless operations across the supply chain.
Training and Knowledge Transfer: Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance the team's understanding of the logistics domain. Serve as the go-to expert for any domain-related queries and provide ongoing support to the team.
Industry Trends and Innovation: Stay updated on the latest trends, innovations, and technological advancements in the logistics and supply chain industry. Propose new ideas and features that can enhance the company’s software offerings and position them as leaders in the market.
Client-Facing Role: Engage with customers regularly to understand their requirements, optimize processes, and contribute to their success. This role involves frequent travel to client sites to strengthen relationships and ensure successful project implementations.
Experience:
- 15-20 years of relevant experience in the Maritime industry with a focus on cargo management, customs clearance, and transportation logistics.
- Previous experience in a consulting role or as a subject matter expert for software development teams is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex domain knowledge into practical software solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
