Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the organization’s tax strategy and compliance across direct and indirect taxes. The incumbent will also be responsible for effective liaisoning with various government authorities to ensure timely resolution of tax matters and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Taxation:
- Manage corporate income tax planning and compliance.
- Prepare and file income tax returns and ensure accurate and timely submissions.
- Handle assessments, appeals, and litigation cases in coordination with tax consultants and legal advisors.
- Ensure tax provisions and deferred tax accounting are accurate and align with statutory and internal requirements.
- Evaluate impact of new tax regulations and implement necessary changes in the system/process.
Indirect Taxation:
- Oversee GST compliance including registrations, return filings, reconciliations, input credit management, and audit.
- Monitor changes in GST laws and assess their impact on business operations.
- Manage audits, assessments, and inquiries from indirect tax authorities.
- Ensure compliance with customs, excise, and other applicable indirect tax laws (if applicable).
Liaisoning & Coordination:
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with key government authorities including Income Tax Department, GST authorities, etc.
- Represent the company before tax authorities, during audits, hearings, and investigations.
- Coordinate with external consultants and legal advisors for effective handling of tax cases.
- Proactively manage regulatory inspections and ensure timely closure of issues.
Key Requirements:
- Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA / CA Inter . Additional qualifications like LLB or MBA (Finance) will be a plus.
- Experience: 10 – 12 years of hands-on experience in both direct and indirect taxation.
- Proven track record of managing complex tax issues, litigations, and compliance.
- Strong understanding of Indian tax laws and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in dealing with large-scale audits and government departments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
